In this unit the emphasis was on the description of modal verbs: their construction and usage in language. This was followed by an appraisal of the passive voice with its construction and usage well explained. It was useful, as ever, to have the commonly committed errors and mistakes spelled out and, of course, the teaching ideas. The sections of the unit on relative clauses and phrasal verbs, on the other hand, were very difficult to grasp and will need much more work. I shall be taking advantage of the further study list to learn much more about these elements of grammar. Again I am regretting the decision to proceed in this course without a tutor.
