Unit ten provided two very different video lessons: one demonstrating an effective ESA lesson, and one demonstrating a very ineffective ESA lesson. What struck me the most when comparing videos was the effect that a teacher's attitude can have on their students. A simple smile made all the difference for students in the second video. While students in the first video were intimidated by the teacher's terseness, students in the second video were encouraged from the outset by the teacher's positive attitude. Video two provided a much needed model of how to instruct an ESA lesson, and I anticipate frequently referring back to it in the early stages of my teaching career.
