The first part of this lesson focussed on the different methodologies available for teaching English. After going through them, I was able to pick out strategies I would use over others and was able to pick out pros and cons within the different methodologies. I thought this unit was extremely helpful when it came to giving classroom activity ideas for each stage of the ESA. The ESA, (Engage, Study, Activate) is what I felt was at the core of this unit. After learning about this concept in detail, I do believe that it would be an effective way of teaching. The concept stresses that you must first engage your students and incite interest. Then, the lesson for the day is taught and practiced. Often times worksheets are used during this stage. And finally, you allow the students to \"activate\" what they have learned by means of different communicative activities.
