This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:

Unit 16 covered conditional and reported speech. It's a complicated lesson for non-native speakers because the tenses can be quite confusing in each usage. In studying the unit, completing the worksheet, and then taking the test, I felt that the lack of time perspective unnecessarily complicated converting direct speech to reported speech. For example, if someone is repeating a statement immediately after it's spoken, such as from a phone conversation to a person in the same room, the time expression would not change. It would sound strange to substitute \"that evening\" for \"this evening\" when immediately sharing the second-hand news that Jack said he was otherwise engaged for a same-day dinner, but perfectly correct when telling a colleague why Jack had not attended a company event that had occurred on some previous evening.
