Unit 7 makes a great emphasis of receptive skills- which are: reading and listening. Both skills are equally important. Reading and listening are divided in two categories, the first one is reading and listening for a purpose and the second one is reading and listening for entertainment. When it comes to reading and listening there are a variety of techniques that we apply depending on the situation- some of the techniques are: Predictive skills, scanning reading, skimming reading, detailed information and deduction from context. When teaching a lesson, it?s very important to consider pre-teaching vocabulary for better comprehension of reading or listening, the text needs to be selected carefully taking in consideration audience common interests.
