There was an abundance of good advice in this final unit of study. I especially took note of the emphasis on establishing rapport on day one. Starting out the class with introductions and a game that enables the learners to get to know each other sets a fun tone to the class. As in previous units, it was suggested that each learner take a test to determine language level and complete a needs analysis questionnaire. These instruments help the teacher to form groups and to plan relevant lessons. In addition, there were helpful suggestions on how to cope with large classes and how to encourage the use of English versus the learners's native language in monolingual classes.
