This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit, I learned a variety of different of teaching aids and when and how to use them in classes. For me, I believe that writing on the board is probably one of the most important and necessary aids that a teacher needs. It can be the main aid for a lesson, or it can be supplementary to a another teaching aid, or it can be used for activities. I also believe that visual aids are necessary for younger ages, like preschool and elementary students because it creates a more fun and engaging environment to have pictures rather than all words. CD players, and DVD players all create a more fun dimension to the classroom but it can't be overused. I believe that presentations and big projects are great times to use video cameras, and DVD players. It allows the students to go beyond the scope of the classroom and search for outside material as well. But, worksheets, course books, dictionaries etc are really the basis in teaching the materials, the other aids are to help make the lessons more interesting.
