I have always considered reading comprehension as one of the most important elements of learning. Therefore, learning how to teach Receptive Skills is crucial to teaching a language. I was curious as to the method of checking for student's understanding. After reading Unit 11, I have learned the solution to monitoring student's reading and listening comprehension is asking questions about the text/dialogue. Examples of the types of questions to ask: true or false, open ended, gap fill, this or that as long as it relates back to information about the text. I am excited to work with students and help with their receptive skills.
