I have big issues finding suitable material for my classes. When I started teaching with no experience last summer, I had no curriculum and no course book available. I had just one goal: prepare the students for the GED. I had to figure out what to teach, how to teach it and find suitable material. Because of the financial situation of my students, it was impossible to get a course book. Creating materials took me extremely long and it was very difficult to match the level of my students. I created several worksheets that were too difficult to my students.
Very helpful in this lesson would be an overview over commonly used course books with their cultural background and a short evaluation.
