This unit offered an example of ineffective teaching and an example of effective teaching. The first video was difficult to watch, because I have felt that confusion as a language student before. In the first video, the teacher didn't introduce himself and didn't have an engaging disposition. Conversely, in the second video the teacher introduced himself, asked the students for their names, and smiled most of the time. In the second video he started with an easy topic and gradually built up to using new vocabulary and a part of speech. The second class felt much more organic. Overall, this was a really nice unit, where one could actually see the stark contrast between an engaging teaching method versus an intimidating method.
