In this unit I have learned about modals, passive voice and phrasal verbs. Modal verbs can change the formality and meaning of the main verb, they express obligation, possibility, permission or prohibition, ability or advice. Some of the modal words are : can , could, may, might, should, would, have to. When we use the Passive Voice , the focus is on the subject, and the agent is less important , not known or we just don't want to say who performs the action. Relative clauses start with relative pronouns: who, that , which, whose, where, when . They are used to define the noun that precedes them. Phrasal verbs are multi-word verbs. They can be intransitive ( can not be followed by a direct object) , Transitive separable or Transitive inseparable. Their meaning has to be taken as a whole , rather than based on individual words.
