In unit twelve,i learned of productive skills, which in the speaking and writing part of a language.Just it is said in the previous lesson that, receptive skills, which is the reading and listening part of a language, can not be completed without productive skills, so it`s vice versa. Among the four, reading, listening, speaking and writing. Writing is mostly relegated to homework by most teachers because it needs a lot of time and accuracy. Not like speaking which, misunderstanding or mistakes made can be cleared on the spot. I came across accuracy and fluency activities, which is equally important in learning languages. With the two,a teacher should make sure that, the students should have some level of accuracy in the language they are learning. If the students are accurate, fluency can easily be achieved. As seen in this unit, students need to be encourage so that they can overcome their fear of speaking by interacting more with other who can speak to them in the same language. Just as i learned in previous lessons, teaching productive skills, which is the speaking and writing part of a language, can not be made simple to students without the application of the ESA(Engage Study Activate)technique. With this techniques, teachers can use games, picture, cards, among other ways which can help the students to talk or write about them. These would help students to develop their vocabulary and language abilities.
