Unit 8 focuses on evaluating and testing the students. The material states that evaluating the progress of the students is important for both the teacher and the student. It is important to the teacher because they can see what the students retained from previous lessons, and help guide future lessons. Evaluation is also important to the students because they want to know if they are doing well, and if they are up to standards for specific tests they will have to take. Informal evaluations can be done by playing games or doing activities. The important aspect is that it gives feedback to the students and the teacher. More formal tests may be necessary while teaching. These can be modeled after standardized tests that the students will need to take, or they can be based on course material from your class. Other tests include placement and diagnostic tests that are taken prior to the start of the class, to either place a student in the correct class or assess they class's prior knowledge.
