This unit was centered around coursebooks and lesson materials. It differentiated between authentic (i.e. \"real-life\" material, e.g. newspapers, radio interviews) and creative (put together by the teacher, e.g. crosswords, flash cards) material, and provided a few examples. In the second part, the coursebook was taken into consideration, and all kinds of questions that come up: which book to use and for what type of students/nationality/level, methodology, price, availabiltity etc. Whenever a teacher does not find the provided material in the book suitable for the level of the class, s/he can substitute it with either authentic or creative material in order to make the lesson suitable for the needs of the students. I learned that a teacher should not rely too much on a coursebook for it can be boring and predictable to the students, it may not always suit their language level (see above), and other reasons. However, a book's \"authority\" should also not be questioned in too great an extent by ommitting too much.
