This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In Unit 20: Troubleshooting, I was filled-in on the final details of teaching a successful EFL course. I was made aware of what should be the focus of a first class, and was given some activities to use. What is most important in the first class is to find out about your students, establish rapport with them, find out their needs and levels, and be professional. It is also important to interweave games and activities, which will make learning fun and will draw interest into using the English language. A good teacher will use only English to speak with their students, encourage them in their English usage, and will also be understanding of reluctant students, offering pair-work or role-plays often, and will embrace dynamics of larger classes. Most importantly, the teacher should know her students, know how to challenge them, and make learning fun.
