Class material is important for every lesson. This does not mean that it needs to be a course book or teacher-created material all the time. A good balance between the two, plus some authentic material will give your students the opportunity to experience the language in what they consider a safe environment to practise, while ensuring that they learn the content and are able to apply it to real life situations. Before using the material, we need to make sure that it's appropriate for the class, and if not, modify and adapt it to make it so. Good and appropriate material will be a key tool in making your lesson more successful and interesting for your students.
