The unit compared an unsuccessful and successful lesson. Both lessons used the same lesson plan. In the first lesson, the teacher seemed uninterested and as if he wanted to get the lesson over with quickly. He didn't have a positive demeanor and did not encourage students when they gave the correct answer or attempted to give an answer. His instructions were sloppy, and he neither gave students enough detail nor examples to help them understand. The students seemed withdrawn and confused. In the second lesson, the students were engaged and thoroughly enjoyed the class. The teacher applied a variety of techniques, such as miming, pictures, pronunciation 3x3 drills, to help bring the students into the lesson, by helping them along and having them participate. The lesson was conducted in a sequence that helped the students build their knowledge and confidence about \"can\" and \"can't\".
