This unit is a demonstration of 2 examples of a real life English language classroom. There are 2 videos showing two contrasting lessons that highlight some of the basic differences between effective and ineffective teaching. Both videos show an English class in an Asian country. In the first video the outcome is not a positive one. This is due to teacher's attitude, who although was very professional, had a more serious attitude and this makes the students seem more intimidated to react, but also the students seem less capable at understanding the teacher.This unit helped me to have a greater understanding of which words beginners can start to learn. Teaching new students familiar words and connecting them to their native tongue. The words should be appropriate and can be easily teachable. These steps can guide the students to be more comfortable and confident in their speaking abilities. Classroom discussions can allow students to motivate themselves to use the language they are familiar with. Upon further progress, students can attempt role play scenarios and games to be far more confident in their speech.
