This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 19 is about teaching special groups. In here, the types of classes are introduced and are given definitions and information. In a classroom setting, you will be exposed to different types of learners. They can be beginners which include the absolute beginner, the false beginner, the adult beginner, the young beginner, and the beginner without Roman alphabet. Also, you can come across an individual student or a one-on-one class. We can also have students for Business English/ English for Specific Purposes (ESP). Lastly, we can be with monolingual and the multilingual class. In this unit, I learned the do's and the don't's in teaching English to these different types of classes. Generally, I learned that as a teacher, you need to analyze students' needs according to their level. Moreover, you need to be flexible, creative, and artistic enough to think of ways on how to get students talking in English. In so doing, you can create learning while having fun and can let the students learn the English language effectively.
