Unit 11 was a short lesson which focused on teaching receptive skills.
It covered the difference between receptive and productive skills, and the different types of behavior and motivations around receptive language use.
It covered the difference between skimming, scanning, detailed information collection, and deduction from context. It also talked about creating interest and selecting appropriate materials and topics to help with student engagement.This unit has dealt with student evaluation and testing. Various forms of assessment tools have been brought to light as well as the various certification tests an examinations that exist. This has been a concise introduction into the world of tests, although I tend to agree that they might only reflect a persons memory skills, I do feel that tests and evaluation have great importance in keeping students motivated and aware of their personal progress.
