I now know how to gesture well, use eye contact, and use my voice in the correct way. I will now say a student's name after I ask a question. This section has shown me the different group work options I can use along with the pros and cons of each. I need to think about how I'll arrange my classroom using the seating options as a guide. I will use the tricks in this unit to not have my back to the students often. I am thankful for the sections on rapport and what to not do as a teacher.It is important for ESL teachers to consider the unique characteristics of their class composition and to tailor the course structure, assignments and activities to best support student learning. Things to consider such as ages, academic ability levels, goals, interests, culture, and home backgrounds of students influence their classroom behavior. Being able to identify which types of learners our students are will help us to make sure students can successfully meet learning objectives.
