In this unit I learned about the parts of speech in the English language. Namely about the characteristics and differences between types of nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs and conjunctions, how and where all these species are used in the construction of sentences. Drew attention to exceptions in the rules and the endings of adjectives. Studied the rules of writing verbs, nouns, adverbs and adjectives. There was a clear understanding of what the gerunds.This unit outlines the importance of how important our receptive skills are and that both listening and reading skills are equally important. It also emphasises that our pre-existing knowledge helps us actually understand what we are reading and listening to. There are many type of reading and listening skills we have that we dont realise eg. skimming and scanning and this is important to teach to make sure we teach thoroughly as it comes naturally to us.
