Teacher's have a wide variety of language learning resources at their disposal: whiteboards, Smartboards, DVD-players, Laptop computers, overhead projectors, cassette tapes, to name just a few, although the resources may vary across different institutions. Regardless, these tools will not be effective for the students unless the teacher takes the time to learn how they may be best implemented to serve the language goals at hand. Thus it is always smart, for instance, for a teacher to practice the technology beforehand, when no students are around, and to always have a back up plan in case of technical difficulties. However, besides electronics there is also a wealth of traditional resources for teachers. These include handouts, pre-made lesson plans, communication topics, dictionaries and thesauraus'. Plus, with the addition of the internet, the range of possible materials at a teacher's hands knows almost no bounds.
