This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 13 is focused on pronunciation and phonology. Pronunciation is how people typically say words and how they sound. Phonology is defined as the study of the physical property of sounds. The chapter starts by talking about intonation and stresses. Which is how we change pitch during sentences and how we emphasize certain words to give a different meaning to what we are trying to say. The chapter then talks about the phonemic alphabet, and describes methods to use it to help students understand how to correctly pronounce words. Especially words that are spelled the similarly but yet pronounced completely different. It then talks about articulation, which is how people use their organs to create different sounds and how we can give students examples so they can properly make the sounds for correct pronunciation. The chapter finishes by giving some examples of techniques we can use to teach these concepts to students.
