This lesson is about lesson planning, not only for the benefit of the students but also the benefit of the teacher. One of my biggest struggles at the moment is organizing myself for the classes that I teach alone. I often don't know where to start with a proper plan and tend to go in with a half-baked idea, the outcome is 50/50 on success or failure. When the success happens it is because I was able to think on the fly and be flexible with my students and have fun improvising. When there is a failure it is because I don't have a clear direction in which to take my students and can't seem to motivate them. My main take away from this lesson is to keep it simple, concise, and flexible. The idea of paying attention to time, phase, and interaction is not new to me but how it was presented here clicked with me. I will plan ahead this week and see how it goes and continue to modify this aspect of my teaching.
