This unit focused on the the different ways of using course materials. Be it authentic or created materials, the teacher should make sure the naterial is not too easy, not too difficult which could discourage the class. Authentic materials provide students with confidence since the material is written/presented entirely in English. Also important is how and when to use course textbooks. Furthermore, knowing when to omit, supplement work/language points with a teacher's own ideas or approaches. Above all, a good teacher essentially reads and reacts to the class's ability.This unit examined modal auxiliary verbs and the passive voice, as well as briefly touching on adjective clauses and phrasal verbs. I found this unit challenging. The modal verbs acted as a nice review of known info; additionally, I will definitely be using the chart provided with them. The adjective clauses and passive voice were slightly more challenging. But the phrasal verbs were completely new to me. As an English major, my teachers never taught me the terms ?transitive separable? or ?transitive inseparable.? I will need to review these more to gain mastery.
