This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 15 taught me that assessments are necessary, but they do not have to be harsh exams. Depending on the type of English classes that one gives, and the goals of the students, one might never need to actually create an exam for assessment. Placement tests, diagnostic tests and progress tests are different. They help the teacher see what the students need from them. It was interesting to learn about the different English language proficiency tests that exist.Since the last years the importance of English have been growing, certification problem arose. I think it is essential to have the knowledge about the different types of exams offered in order not to feel confused, especially for a teacher. I learnt a lot about the special needs each exams was designed for. There is no way to avoid completely examination from a learning and teching routine so it is good to know how to use it a part of motivation and reviewing.
