This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was all about managing your classroom properly, from the layout to discipline. I liked the point about using names at the end of the question as opposed to the beginning because it keeps everyone engaged and on their toes. It also stressed the importance of using body language and visual cues to communicate easier and faster. The disciplinary rules are true but I find discipline to be much more difficult than portrayed in this unit. The two productive skills in communication are speaking and writing. They are both equally important for the student to speak and write with accuracy and fluency. Speaking in English could be challenging for a person if there is a lack of confidence, peer intimidation or a lack of interest; writing represents its own challenges, such as the native language alphabet and punctuation, and the confusion between certain British and American slang.
