This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
What I have learned from this Unit is the different types of learners, motivation of learners, and different stages of learners. The different stages of learners all play into the different levels of motivation. When teaching a younger student under eight years old, there might be different tactics and ways with visuals, songs, and games. Older students and adults have a harder time taking risks when learning language for fear of making mistakes around peers.
Regardless of age it is always important to be mindful of one's culture when teaching students. It is important to know what customs are important, what norms are acceptable and what are not.
By knowing a student's age, language level, and motivation, it will be a wonderful way to plan what ways to teach the learner as either a manager, organizer, assessor, prompter, participant, tutor, model, or observer.
