This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was quite lengthy and in depth discussing the teaching of pronunciation and phonology. A large portion of the unit focussed on phonology and discussed the different aspects associated with it. Guides for understanding and teaching intonation and stress in relation to speech were also included. I had never been exposed to the phonetic alphabet until taking this unit and while it took me a while to grasp, I can understand how this would help someone who is learning the English language and struggling with phonetics or pronounciation. I really enjoy going through examples of activities each unit as it helps me put what I have just learnt into practice and think about my own lesson planning. It would have been great to see more in class examples of how this can be applied/taught. Although, being so content heavy, I understand it might have made the unit too long.
