This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
What I got from this unit is that there's a strong focus on how a teacher should be in front of his/her students. There's a strong sense of the relationship between student and teacher. With special focuses on the role of the teacher within a classroom. Not only should a teacher respect the boundaries of the student and observe the culture in which they are teaching in, but also the parameters of the student's willingness to learn, abilities and age. I sensed there's a divide between the age groups and one must consider which area he/she would like to focus on, as well as which level. I also appreciate that a teacher should be kind and patient, a solid knowledge of the English language, understand the student's weaknesses and culture and above all, keep them motivated. An unmotivated student is a student who will leave the class, fall behind or just not participate.
