This unit addressed how to choose and create teaching materials. It discussed the pros and cons of using textbooks. I think having a textbook on hand as a curriculum guide would be helpful, especially for those individuals who are new to teaching, but I agree that one should not be used every lesson. Textbooks might be too general, boring or stale if used too often. I think the example materials shown in this unit will be enormously helpful in lesson planning.This unit highlighted the types of tests that can be used to place students in appropriate class levels, monitor progress, identify areas of difficulty, and practice for and undertake formal examinations. Regular evaluation and testing can also be a valuable tool for teacher reflection. If multiple students are struggling with the same concept, this could be a sign that the teacher needs to adjust their methods of teaching in order to help the students understand.
