The attitude a teacher brings to the classroom directly affects students. It is imperative that teachers begin the class with a welcoming smile, by learning names and setting a comfortable mood. Having a gentle, yet direct tone and approach will help students feel safe and in return, be more willing to participate. Speaking clearly and not too quickly is also important. Miming, gesturing and displaying images or models will help lower level students understand basic vocabulary. In this unit i have learnt the different ways in which you can asses your students language level. I have learnt about the different types of test tha are take. Placement tests which i done to place students into the correct class according to their language ability. Progress test which is usually done throughout the course. Diagnostic test which is done at the start of the course to see what the students already know. I have also learnt about the general external examinations.
