Unit 13 covered pronunciation and phonology. I found this unit the most difficult so far. Trying to hear the intonation in my sentences when I speak is difficult to catch. The hardest part I found, though, was picking up on which syllables are stressed in particular words. I understand when a word is stressed for emphasis but picking up on natural stress is difficult for me. I will keep practicing and will hopefully be able to master it soon. Overall I found this unit very interesting, especially because my current students really struggle with pronunciation. Before this unit, I could not read the phonetic alphabet myself but from now on I hope to be able to help my students more by utilizing it. I do not feel like I have completely mastered this unit but I will continue to refer back to it and try to master the areas I am not yet comfortable with.
