This unit has opened my eyes on minor mistakes I've been doing on my past teaching experiences, also added knowledge on how to improve my teaching techniques, especially on teaching the special groups. One thing to be highlighted related to my personal experience is when I taught Business English in the past, I have been always so worried about not having a broad knowledge of each department in the company. Now, having to know that that can be my advantage point, is such a big relief to me.In this chapter, I learnt how to prepare course material for students and the difference between authentic materials and created materials. And the fact that both materials has advantages and disadvantages. For teachers, it is very important to acknowledge the pros and cons of each method.
Course books has it essential usage for english teaching. From the content of this chapter, I learnt it is necessary to omit, to replace, to find supplement and to adapt the materials in my own way.
