The unit discussed present tense and explained the 4 aspects of the present tense, simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous in some detail. It didn't explicitly state the general rule as to when to use 'perfect tense' and when to use 'perfect continuous', but rather only gave examples of situations in which one or the other might be used. I found this not particularly helpful, because as a teacher presumably I would have to explain the general principle at some point during a class on it. This meant I had to find other resources in order to formulate this general principle.One of the most intimidating aspects of both English language acquisition and instruction is trying to grapple with twelve verb tenses: the simple, continuous, perfect, and perfect continuous aspects of the past, present and future. By presenting simple affirmative, positive, and question forms for each present tense, common usages, typical mistakes, and sample activities, this unit has provided me an excellent way to clearly explain the proper function of various tenses within everyday scenarios and anticipate common errors so that I can be well-prepared to address them on the spot.
