I had something of a love/hate relationship with this unit. The first part (and most of the exam) was entirely inappropriate for myself. I can understand why it is important for non-native speakers; the information is quite useful for them. However, for myself, I found it a bit of a slog. However, the last parts, particularly covering relative clauses and transitive phrasal verbs, was a great opportunity to refresh/relearn some more complicated aspects of English grammarI this unit, it degines that a modal is a verb that combines with another verb to indicate mood or tense. A modal verb expresses necessity, uncertainty, ability, or permission. We use active voice when a subject does an action to an object. passive voice is used when we want to emphasize the verb and the object of a sentence rather than subject. This means that the subject is either less important than the action itself or that we don?t know who or what the subject is.
