This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this lesson I learned that there are five different types of conditionals that we can use. I had never thought about the reasons why would use each until this lesson. With the zero conditional, we refer to actions and facts. With the first conditional, we talk about real situations in the future that are possible. With the second conditional, we talk about present or future hypothetical situations. With the third conditional, we talk about things we wish we had done but cannot be altered now. With the mixed conditional, we can talk about hypothetical past action or state and the present consequences (this one I find a bit more challenging to explain.)
I also learned more about reported speech and the concept of backshifting, where the present becomes the past when reporting. We also need to be cautious about reporting time too.
