This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit introduced tenses in the English language as a core grammatical concept and frequent point of confusion for learners. From this the unit began covering different present tenses found in English starting with the present tense. These included the present simple, present continues, present perfect, and present perfect continuous. Each tense was explained according to its form (positive vs. negative, conjugation rules, etc.), what sort of situations it is used for, how it relates to time, etc. Also included were common student mistakes and sample teaching ideas for the Activate Stage of an ESA lesson. By understanding the existence and function of these grammatical structures and with the teaching resources provided, I can now better explain these rules to students and identify/better address the causes of student mistakes.
