There are many parts of speech. I have learned a lot about the parts of a sentence that I hadn't really thought about, just used in the course of speaking and writing. In particular, I had not understood a gerund before, but now I know it is used as a present participle, such as \"swimming is fun,\" or \"playing basketball is one of my favorite sports.\" This unit also helped clarify for me the difference between countable and uncountable nouns. Such as, when you can count things (eggs, flowers, houses, dogs in a shelter) versus when you can't (music, water, sand).Wow! This unit was complex. If complicated for a native speaker I can't imagine how complicated it would be for non-native speaker. I honestly, had to take wild guesses on the phonetic scripts for the quiz. I don't feel the lesson did an adequate enough job of describing all the different terminologies in this lesson. We need more examples directly related to the quiz. I also can't help but feel introducing this to ESL students would be more confusing than anything else. I think providing examples in person is best to teach this topic, as text convolutes it more.
