The content from this first unit introduces the basics of teaching for both students and teachers. It highlights the various stages of learners abilities and gives me cause to reflect on the best approach for teaching each student level. The unit also serves as a reflective tool to ensure that I have the correct qualities to become an effective teacher. As a result I have thought about my desire to become a TEFL teacher and to question whether I have the right characteristics and motivations, i.e am I kind and patient, am I learner focussed rather than focussed on my own outcomes, and so forth. It has also made me face a fear I have of failing in my studies in undertaking the unit assessment at the end of this unit. Finally this unit has cemented my desire to learn and teach and has made me excited of the future prospects.
