The two video lessons were quite a contrast from each other and provided key examples of what makes an effective class as well as a poorly-run class. The second video emphasized the importance of enthusiasm when teaching, which showed in how much instructor smiled. Also, I learned the importance of saying the students’ names. The instructor did this well by having the students write their names on paper and placing them in front of their desks as name cards so he could clearly identify who they were. I also appreciated the instructor's use of gestures and visual examples in reinforcing the lesson, which helped the students grasp the material. More importantly, the instructor's voice was clear and easy to understand. He made eye contact with the students and his rapport with them encouraged their participation.
