Course book and lesson materials are an important resource for an english course. The might guide the teacher on the overall syllabus and even how to approach each lesson. However, this is very flexible in a way that the teacher can always omit some parts of the lesson that on his criteria are unsuitable for the class. This is basically because each class is different and the class are design for a very broad market that even overlap countries and continents! The teacher could also incorporate authentic materials that might rise interest from the students, adapt some activities or simply completely replace a whole lesson. However, we need to be carefull not to be absolutely contrary to the course objectives, which is already established and acknowledged by the students or representatives and school or institution.
