This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The videos showed how to effectively engage students with gestures, facial cues and smiles, saying their names and using pictures to further the learning. The first video showed a frustrated, mildly angry teacher ineffectively teaching a concept without engaging the students understanding of the material. He failed to get his lesson across as he belittled them by saying repeatedly this was so easy and anyone could do it. The first lesson used very little of the stages of teaching. This unit discussed different types of students and advice to teachers on how to go about the lesson. I don't have teaching experience, so it was good for me to read this unit to gain an idea about handling different types of students; teaching a child versus teaching an older student who is taking the class for business needs. I am also concerned about teaching beginning English students as a beginning instructor myself, so it was nice to see the unit covering teaching beginners.
