I learned that phonetic script is awesome because it is like a secret language, however it should not be used to help students learn pronunciation. I found it very interesting to learn the various biological factors that influence pronunciation such as plosive and fricative manners of articulation. This information could be useful to help teachers explain how to make certain sounds. Teachers can also use this information to determine why students may be struggling with the pronunciation of certain words.In this unit the students learn about cultural issues they should be aware of when teaching in different countries in the world, mainly how to seek, apply for and keep employment, what examinations they may take in view of their future professional development. Some useful webliography is given as well. I found this unit very useful in term of practical information, especially the parts related the cultural awareness since a good teacher-students relationship may prove to be essential for future success.
