There are some general rules to teach productive skills same as receptive skills. These are: creating motivation, using varied activities including controlled practice and free practice, providing feedbacks at the end, etc. One thing the teacher needs to keep in my that teaching writing should be treated equally with teaching speaking. Even though the former is usually considered more difficult and boring to teach, both of these productive skills will lead the learners to one goal that is communication.Unit 9 covers lesson planning. It makes it clear that a lesson plan should not be too rigid. Some guidelines mentioned are that it should have three main components; It should be an aid to planning, a working document and a record of activities and lessons taught in the class. Although lesson plans vary dramatically from teacher to teacher, it is suggested that new teachers always have a lesson plan to avoid seeming disorganized and unprepared. More experienced teachers can have a more relaxed approach.
