This unit covers potential issues that may arise while teaching and how we can identify these issues and work to avoid them arising and to repair them if they do arise. We learn how to best format a first lesson with analysis and warmers so that we may build rapport with our students and between our students to create a comfortable atmosphere that both motivates the students to learn and allows us to develop and understanding of the level and needs of our students. This unit helps us to understand how we can work through issues such as having students at different levels in the same class (an issue I experienced in language classes but had a wonderful teacher to act as an example of how to ensure all students have a positive learning experience), how we can best teach large classes and encourage reluctant learners, and what we can do to make listening activities less stressful and more effective for all students. We also learn how to avoid the use of students' native language in the classroom so that students are better immersed in English, which allows them to develop the ability to think in English, thus better enhancing their English skill level.
