This unit discussed lesson planning, and the importance of flexibility and experience when it comes to lesson planning. As a new teacher, it'll likely be difficult at first for me to be able to accurately predict how long activities may take, or what issues may arise during a lesson, so my own flexibility with the lesson plan and the ability to take notes and review for the future will be of great importance. Lesson plans are important so I can know what I plan on teaching, what activities I'll use, what materials I'll need, etc., but it's important to know that the lesson plan is not an absolute rule for that class. If a particular activity is going really well, and the students are greatly enjoying it, then I should be flexible enough to allow more time for that activity. Lesson plans are also good to keep a record of what has been taught already, what activities worked well with each class, and to make notes of any issues that could have come up.
