This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This lesson discusses the practice of teaching intonation and pronunciation. I was a little weary of this unit because I know that one can get bogged down by all of the terms for speech and phonetic script. Most of these terms are useless in the class itself. It does help however to be able to understand the nuances of how sounds are made. This can provide the teacher with the ability to describe the shape of the mouth needed to properly pronounce certain sounds. In the east Asian countries the \"l\" and the \"r\" sound are typical sources of problems and an aspect of English that I have had to get good at describing. I thing that my ability to asses other weak points in a students pronunciation has improved due to this unit.
