This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I have been thinking about pronunciation lately. Considering my students may have learned English in the past from someone from the UK or Australia versus someone from the United States, I wondered how it might affect the way my students would pronounce certain words and whether it would be up to me to change anything or not. This unit was a huge insight into this issue and more, as I had just been beginning research into pronunciation techniques and methods for students. Stresses, intonation, and phonemic symbols were all things I have been aware of, but never considered formally until now. Putting this into practice will be challenging, but I understand how important it will be for my students to attempt, and see how pronunciation will contribute to their fluency and ultimate understanding of the English language.
